Here’s a photo from Turku harbor taken in 1957. A couple of Sisu trucks are ready to head towards Helsinki so that their cargo can participate in !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! . The cargo? Just three Ferrari 750 Monzas and a 500 TR.

The 500 TR (the rearmost car in the trailer) has interesting history. Its bodywork was almost completely destroyed in a crash while practicing for 1958 Eläintarhan ajot and the car was essentially rebodied by Autokoriteollisuus OY in just 6 days in order to take part in the race. As such it’s probably the only Ferrari with Finnish made body.

Probably not as Mikkola is fairly common surname but you never know. The transport company is from Mäntsälä and Hannu was from Joensuu, almost 400km away.

Also, note the short phone number: 319.

Neither did I before wondering what happened to those Ferraris and where are they now. It’s amazing how much information you can find online.

Just checking in since I am the resident Finn on Car Buying. Don’t speak a word of it but my parents grew up in the US in households where it was the first language.
